US President Donald Trump revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had offered help regarding Iran. However, Trump declined and instead urged Putin to assist in resolving the Ukraine war, highlighting his intention to negotiate a ceasefire. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “Vladimir called me and asked, ‘Can I help you with Iran?’ I told him, ‘No, I need help with you.’”
When asked if he plans to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the NATO Summit in the Netherlands, Donald Trump responded, “Yeah, probably I’ll see him.” When further asked what he would say, Trump replied, “How you doing? He’s in a tough situation. Should’ve never been there.”
Following his recent success in brokering a peace deal between Israel and Iran, Trump expressed hope of achieving a similar resolution to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
"Six thousand soldiers died just last week," Trump said, highlighting the war’s escalating toll.
Recent negotiations in Istanbul on May 16 and June 2 marked the first direct talks in over three years, leading to prisoner swaps and the return of fallen soldiers’ bodies. However, no agreement on a ceasefire has been reached. Ukraine, backed by the West, continues to push for a ceasefire, while Russia demands a final settlement with terms Kyiv considers equivalent to surrender.
Meanwhile, the conflict has sharply intensified. Russia launched some of its most severe airstrikes since the war began, while Ukraine carried out drone attacks on June 1 that damaged key Russian airbases housing nuclear-capable bombers.
